Communications & Partnerships Manager

Fulltime position
Located in Toronto, Canada

As Communications & Partnerships Manager at Wellspent you will act as a champion for our brand and reputation and lead our external communications efforts. You will work closely with our leadership team to develop our strategy for PR, partnerships, social and content, take the lead on putting it into action, and be responsible for reporting our successes.

You are a self-starter with a track record of wins and can hit the ground running to help us build awareness of our brand, encourage engagement, and draw new users to our product.

What you'll do:

  • Develop brand and PR messaging and adapt it for media and partner outreach, our newsletter, blog, and social media
  • Own and manage our brand voice across all touchpoints
  • Create and action our external communications strategy, ensuring Wellspent remains top-of-mind with our audiences as we grow. You will be responsible for securing frequent and relevant media coverage through proactive pitching and/or newsjacking, developing presentations for external partners, and writing social copy, blogs, newsletter and any other forms of external content
  • Build productive and ongoing relationships with relevant media and influencers, and secure content partnerships for our brand
  • Develop and execute a thought-leadership strategy for our co-founders that includes lining up interviews and securing frequent speaking engagements
  • Work with the marketing team to develop and execute a test-and-learn content strategy
  • Manage communications and partnerships reporting to track success, learning and overall ROI

Who you are:

  • You understand what we’re building and feel passionate about our mission & goals
  • You have 4+ years of relevant experience, with a focus on external communications and PR
  • You know what it’s like to work at a start-up because you’ve either worked at one or with start-up clients at an agency
  • You are a team player who is flexible and willing to support colleagues on other teams as needed
  • You have a track record of building productive relationships, particularly with journalists and influencers
  • When it comes to working with journalists—you recognize how the changing media landscape impacts both your day-to-day and longer-term planning
  • You are results-driven and can look beyond vanity metrics to focus on reporting that impacts our broader business goals
  • You are a strong writer who can expertly adapt our message for different audiences and channels
  • You are comfortable using data to create compelling narratives and have an eye for a good story
  • You are a practical, detail-oriented project manager who likes to stay organized
  • You may not have all the answers but are resourceful enough to find them
